An example of using traditional media and social media tools

2279253649_e571f2b7ec_m.jpgI don’t follow politics, but when Barack Obama decided to run for the presidential election, he got my attention and the attention of his audience.

First of all he’s an orator who delivers inspirational , passionate and convicting speeches that strike the heart of anyone who’s open.

He’s using every known media platform to get his message out!

He wants voters to act and he knows how to engage his audience. How? By giving his audience a sense of ownership. He’s reminding them of their civic duty. He’s empowering them for their support, their donations, their mobilisation. He’s informing them and keeping them updated once they become a donor on his website using new media tools. He’s reaching the digital natives online to take action offline and vote!

Let’s see what platforms Obama is using

  • TV ads
  • Newspaper
  • Mobile phone- texting
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Myspace
  • Digg
  • Eventful
  • Linkedin
  • Blackplanet
  • Faithbase
  • Eon

That’s just a few…

As you see he’s using both traditional and new media. Sometimes people tell us they’ll keep using the old way of doing things because it’s always worked for them. And there’s nothing wrong with that at all – but will it keep working?

What we’re suggesting is… try the new media tools that complement your current business strategies.

Will Barack Obama be the next president of the United States? Time will tell but some say it’s the best political campaign ever.

Thanks for using my Obama mosaic portrait for this.
I totally agree with your analysis about Obama’s campaign.
It’s a great example of political campaign and I am sure it will be considered a milestobe in political marketing.
